Our 2-Day & 1-Night Ayahuasca Retreat in the Peruvian Amazon is designed for those who wish to experience their first authentic Ayahuasca ceremony in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
During your retreat, you will participate in one traditional Ayahuasca ceremony, guided by Master Curanderos with more than 55 years of Amazonian tradition. We welcome only small groups, allowing us to provide personalized guidance before, during, and after every ceremony.
Awkipuma Spiritual Center is located in the Amazonian community of Tamshiyacu, approximately one hour by boat from Iquitos, Peru. Surrounded by the Amazon rainforest and the Amazon River, our center offers a peaceful setting where participants can experience the ancestral medicine with authenticity, respect, and personal care.

What does "2 days and 1 night" actually mean?
We know it can be confusing. Many participants ask us if we offer “just one night” retreats. So we want to explain it clearly, step by step, before you book.
🌿 Day 1 — Arrival and preparation
You arrive at Centro Espiritual Awkipuma by boat along the Amazon River from Iquitos. You meet the shamans, the team and the other participants. You receive a preparation talk so you can enter the ceremony with clarity, confidence and no doubts. The afternoon is yours to rest, breathe in the jungle and connect with the place.
🌙 That same night — The sacred ceremony
At 8 pm the ayahuasca ceremony begins, guided by our master shamans. This is not a one-hour session. It is a deep healing process that lasts approximately 4 to 5 hours — until around 1 am. During that time, the plant, the icaros and the presence of the masters do their work.
When the ceremony ends, each participant goes to rest in their own private cabin inside Centro Espiritual Awkipuma. There are no night transfers, no rushing. Just silence, jungle and the rest that the body and soul need after such a profound experience.
☀️ Day 2 — Integration, breakfast and return
The next morning is for resting and processing what you experienced. We share a vegetarian breakfast together — a quiet, warm moment for the body to recover after the night.
Then there is an integration circle with the shamans, where you can share your experience, ask questions and receive guidance on what you lived. At midday, you return to the city of Iquitos.
One ceremony — but two full days of preparation, experience, rest and integration. That is what makes this a safe, deep and well-supported experience from the very first moment to the last.

- Participate in 1 Ayahuasca ceremony under the guidance of an experienced shaman, who leads the ceremony and helps participants navigate their experience.
- Preparation and orientation: Prior to the ceremony, participants will receive instructions on how to prepare physically, emotionally, and spiritually for the ayahuasca experience.
- Overnight accommodation at our Awkipuma centre with comfortable rooms equipped with mosquito nets and bathroom.
- Breakfast and lunch are vegetarian, the aim is to cleanse the physical and energetic body in order to have a more intense and profound experience with the sacred plant ayahuasca.
- Support and follow-up: After the ceremony, participants often receive support and guidance to integrate the insights and learnings from the experience into their daily lives.
Day 1:
- 10:00 am: Pick up from your respective hotels and transfer across the Amazon River.
- 12:00 am: Arrival at the Tamshiyacu community and welcome meeting with the shamans.
- 1:00 pm: Lunch with the participants.
- 3:00 pm: Welcome to the Awkipuma Center and presentation of the place.
- 4:00 pm: Orientation talk with participants before the ayahuasca ceremony.
- 6:00 pm: Free time to rest and mentally prepare.
- 8:00 pm: First ayahuasca ceremony.
Day 2:
- 9:00 am: Group breakfast
- 10:00 am: Conversation to interpret and integrate the experience, and post-diet recommendations.
- 12: End of the ayahuasca retreat.
CLOTHES:
- Light, breathable clothing – Long-sleeved shirts and long pants to protect you from insects.
- Light jacket or coat – For nights that may be cool.
- Comfortable and durable footwear – sandals and trekking shoes.
- Swimsuit – access to natural pools
- Hat or cap – To protect yourself from the sun.
EQUIPMENT
- Daypack – For short excursions.
- Flashlight or headlamp – With extra batteries.
- Reusable water bottle – To keep you hydrated (We have purified water at the center).
- Insect repellent – Preferably with DEET or natural.
- Sunscreen – Ideally biodegradable.
PERSONAL HYGIENE ARTICLES
- Toiletries – Soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste.
- Quick-drying towel – Takes up little space and dries quickly.
- Toilet paper – It is useful to always carry a small roll with you wherever you go.
- Basic first aid kit – Including medications you may need.
FOR THE AYAHUASCA RETREAT
- Diary or notebook – To reflect on your experiences.
- Pen or pencil – For taking notes.
- Music or meditation material – If you prefer to practice on your own time (optional).
- Significant personal objects – That can help you in the process of introspection.
OTHERS
- Healthy snacks – Nuts.
- Camera – To capture moments (although consider whether you want to maintain privacy).
- A reading book – For your moments of rest.
